Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Dupo an eight-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis Crusaders will be playing at home against the Dupo Tigers at 4:30 p.m.
Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis had taken Crosspoint Christian down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end last Thursday. Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis fell just short of Crosspoint Christian by a score of 8-7.
Tariq Mayo was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Mayo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Dane Perry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Dupo got themselves on the board against Bunker Hill on Thursday, but Bunker Hill never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Minutemen.
Like Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis, Dupo also got a great game from a two-way player: Teegan Hargrove. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Hargrove a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Dupo got a massive performance out of Carter McMannis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. The dominant performance gave McMannis a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacob Stanek, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Dupo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bunker Hill only posted an OBP of .143.
Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Dupo, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
