The Chevak Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They suffered a tough 86-63 loss at the hands of Hooper Bay. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hooper Bay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Latrell Lake led the charge by scoring 39 points. Another player making a difference was Carson Long, who scored 27 points.
Chevak's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hooper Bay, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Unalakleet the next time they take the court. Chevak will head out to face Unalakleet at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th, while Hooper Bay will host them at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th.
