The Pleasanton Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Floresville Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Pleasanton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 918th, while the Tigers are ranked 433rd).
While Pleasanton couldn't quite beat the Bulldogs on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 33-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. Pleasanton fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 35-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Pleasanton has suffered since November 28, 2023.
Meanwhile, Floresville entered their tilt with the Wildcats with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Floresville strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-46. Floresville pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.
Pleasanton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-17 record this season. As for Floresville, they pushed their record up to 21-12 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Pleasanton might still be hurting after the 61-36 loss they got from the Tigers when the teams last played back in January. Can Pleasanton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
