D2 District 1 (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012
Sacred Heart extended the longest winning streak in D2 District 1 (8 Man) this week by beating Meridian, 76-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Irish.
Sacred Heart took down the Mustangs 76-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lewiston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hayden Albers threw for 60 and one touchdown and Taylor McHenry had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Connor Barr chipped in 39 yards. Cutter Singleton helped Lewiston's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Austin Vitosh and Ely Hroch Diller-Odell has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Vitosh leads the league in passing with 275 yards, while Hroch has rushed for 553 yards this season. The Tigers' Austin Schmutz leads the league in receiving yards with 187 on nine catches.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Sterling takes on Doug Goltz's team. The Jets have allowed 118 points this season, while the Irish have given up 44.
There should be lots of points scored when the Griffin and Lewiston face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Diller-Odell comes in having scored 109 this season, while Rich Gilson's team has scored 194. Chris Schluter's team scored 77 points last week as it topped Deshler.
The Griffin led the league in scoring this week after putting up 77 points on the Dragons.
