The Goochland Bulldogs will take on the Western Albemarle Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Goochland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Goochland took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over Charlottesville. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Black Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Avery Newman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Sadie Grimes was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kaylee Markey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Goochland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlottesville only posted a batting average of .111.
Meanwhile, Western Albemarle fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Fluvanna County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flying Flucos. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.
Addy Hux made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Sims, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Having lost for the first time this season, Western Albemarle fell to 4-1. As for Goochland, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Goochland's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Western Albemarle, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Goochland continue to outrun the ball?
Goochland beat Western Albemarle 7-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
