The Science Leadership Academy at Beeber Rockets pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northeast. While losing is never fun, Science Leadership Academy at Beeber can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Northeast is ranked 101st).
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jahad Marable, who scored 16 points. The matchup was Marable's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Drew Holland was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Among those leading the charge was Jalen Lee-womack, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Bobby Perry, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Science Leadership Academy at Beeber's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Northeast, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Science Leadership Academy at Beeber and Kensington will face off at 4:45 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kensington has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-1-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Northeast, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Great Oaks at 6:00 p.m.
