Haddon Miller and Wyatt Schmitz were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Miller pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Schmitz tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Miller also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairview is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-8 otherwise. At bat, Miller scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Schmitz scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Schmitz a new career-high.
In other batting news, Trace Bonham was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
Fairview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Thomas-Fay-Custer entered their tilt with Watonga on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Terriers have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Thomas-Fay-Custer's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fairview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
Fairview beat Thomas-Fay-Custer 10-7 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Terriers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
