Softball Recap: Wootton Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wootton extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping them up to 14-8. They beat the Magruder Colonels by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-8. Considering the Patriots have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Magruder, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-8. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly nine runs.

For Magruder's part, Karina Sharma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and 15 unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Addie Belcher made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Emma Rash was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Looking ahead, Wootton will take on Damascus on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Swarmin' Hornets have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. Magruder does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
