The Mission Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the La Joya Coyotes at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mission is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
While Mission's win against Los Fresnos wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles skirted past the Falcons 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Falcons since February 24, 2022.

Judith Arroyo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Breanna Longoria, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Ilia Fiscal was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Mission kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, in Monday's Canine Competition, La Joya didn't have enough. They came up short against Laredo LBJ on Monday, falling 17-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Coyotes couldn't push the score so high this time.
La Joya saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deseray Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Jhennaly Longoria also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Mission is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for La Joya, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Mission's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for La Joya, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mission continue to outrun the ball?
Mission suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to La Joya in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
