The Tilton School Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Austin Prep Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Austin Prep took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tilton School, who comes in off a win.
Tilton School will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Holderness on Saturday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Bulls. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Louie Doyle made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Doyle was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Bryce Turmel and Matt Weitzman did most of the damage at the plate: Turmel got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Weitzman went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Weitzman has posted since back in April of 2025. Chris Marques also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Tilton School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Austin Prep faced Belmont Hill in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars fell just short of the Hillies by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.
Austin Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Tilton School, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Tilton School might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Austin Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
