Liberal is 0-6 against Lockwood since August of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Liberal Bulldogs will face off against the Lockwood Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
With a playoff game on the line, Liberal rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down College Heights Christian 44-28. Liberal pushed the score to 44-20 by the end of the third, a deficit College Heights Christian cut but never quite recovered from.
Quincy Bazal was on fire: he rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also picked up 82 receiving yards. Nolan Shaw and his 87 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Liberal's win.
Liberal's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. In that department, Isaac Edwards was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Lockwood entered their tilt with Greenfield with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Lockwood simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Greenfield 62-12 on the road. Lockwood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matches by 24 points or more this season.
Their wins bumped Liberal to 4-6 and Lockwood to 8-2.
Liberal took a serious blow against Lockwood in their previous meeting back in September, falling 69-8. Can Liberal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
