Softball Recap: Vicksburg Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Vicksburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Gull Lake Blue Devils an 18-0 shutout. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Devils, too.

The team relied heavily on Kayla Chisholm, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Zemitans, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Vicksburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Vicksburg pushed their record up to 14-15 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gull Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will host Lakeshore at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gull Lake, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Norrix at 4:00 p.m.
