After flying high against the Aynor Blue Jackets last Friday, the Waccamaw Warriors came back down to earth. Waccamaw fell to the Wildcats 57-51. While losing is never fun, Waccamaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 86th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dutch Kerns, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kerns has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Hart, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Dillon found their leader in underclassman Zamaurious Robertson, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Robertson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rahmond Hamilton, who scored 11 points.
Waccamaw has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 18 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Dillon, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Waccamaw will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manning has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Dillon, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Georgetown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Wildcats like a good challenge.
