3A Region IV District 30 recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sinton, who took down 190th ranked Orange Grove, 35-27. Tyler Handson threw for 56 yards and ran for 316 yards during the win.
Anthony Resendez and Alex Fahrenthold provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Robstown. The connection went for 81 yards, the longest such play in 3A Region IV District 30 this season.
Handson was a passing and rushing force as the Pirates bested the Bulldogs.
Handson was a beast in the backfield as Sinton beat Orange Grove.
Resendez put up the best numbers through the air as Rockport-Fulton topped the Cottonpickers. He had a total of 9 completions for 158 yards. Resendez's favorite target this week was Fahrenthold, who caught 2 passes for 91 yards.
Next week's game between Tom Allen's team and the Pirates will feature a good passing match up as Handson will test his arm against Brandon Ngo's defensive ability. For the year, the Pirates' Handson has managed 1,091 yards and 7 touchdowns, while Ngo has 3 interceptions for Rockport-Fulton.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when West Oso takes on Jerry Bomar's team. As it stands, the Bears are in fifth, while the Bulldogs are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Sinton and Huey Chancellor's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Pirates comes in having scored 246 this season, while the Pirates have scored 152. Sinton scored 35 points last week as it topped Orange Grove.
Rockport-Fulton scaled the state rankings by moving to 810 from 873 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of besting Robstown 31-27.
