Basketball Recap: Philleah Bright Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Palm Beach Gardens

Suncoast hadn't done well against Palm Beach Gardens recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Suncoast Chargers skirted past the Palm Beach Gardens Gators 51-48. This was payback for the Chargers, who suffered an 80-38 loss the last time these two teams met.

Suncoast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Philleah Bright, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. Bright's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nekeria Sutton, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points.

Despite the loss, Palm Beach Gardens still got an impressive performance from Latasha Whyte, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Whyte has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyairah Pitts, who posted nine points.

Suncoast's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Palm Beach Gardens, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Suncoast will challenge Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they will face off against Boynton Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Palm Beach Gardens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
