Cambria-Friesland hasn't had much luck against Pardeeville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Hilltoppers will welcome the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m.
Cambria-Friesland is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Fall River, falling 10-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hilltoppers have suffered since May 10, 2024.
Meanwhile, Pardeeville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hornets 11-9. 11 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Logan Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Achterberg, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Preston Jenkins was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Pardeeville's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cambria-Friesland, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
