The Del Valle Conquistadores will be playing at home against the Tascosa Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Del Valle came tearing into Friday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Bel Air 42-17. Given Del Valle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Bel Air is ranked 720th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andres Mei and Juan Archuleta were among the main playmakers for Del Valle as the former picked up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, even though Coronado scored an imposing 34 points on Thursday, Tascosa still came out on top. Tascosa put the hurt on Coronado with a sharp 56-34 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Tascosa just coasted through the last quarter.
Tascosa found their leader in underclassman Coltyn Fulton, who threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Tascosa also got a significant boost from Andrew Merrell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.
Del Valle has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points per game. As for Tascosa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.
