Basketball Recap: Highland Prep Wins Going Away Against Valley Lutheran

Highland Prep won against San Manuel on Thursday with 47 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Highland Prep Honey Badgers enjoyed a cozy 47-29 victory over the Valley Lutheran Flames. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Honey Badgers.

Tatiana Minick was the offensive standout of the match as she went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Minick, who posted nine points and three steals.

Highland Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Valley Lutheran's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Viddiate Clinton, who put up seven points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Another player making a difference was Natalia Hernandez, who had ten points along with six steals and five boards.

Highland Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points per game. As for Valley Lutheran, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Highland Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-23 win against San Tan Foothills on the 3rd. As for Valley Lutheran, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-36 victory against Chandler Prep on the 3rd.
