The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Castro Valley by a score of 71-63. Given Bishop O'Dowd's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Castro Valley is ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop O'Dowd to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Green, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Green is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Chavarin, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Bishop O'Dowd's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Castro Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.
Bishop O'Dowd will be playing at home against Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Castro Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Joseph Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph Notre Dame knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Castro Valley likes a good challenge.
