Basketball Game Preview: West Port Wolf Pack vs. Buchholz Bobcats

The West Port Wolf Pack and the Buchholz Bobcats will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Port is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, West Port made easy work of Master's Academy and carried off a 44-20 win. The Wolf Pack have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season.

West Port had a senior duo take command as Aaliyah Grant dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards and Calise Smith went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points. Grant has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caniyah Graham, who posted three points in addition to five assists, five boards, and four steals.

West Port smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Buchholz faced off against Trenton on Thursday. Buchholz fell just short of Trenton by a score of 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bobcats have suffered since January 6th.

West Port is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Buchholz, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

Everything came up roses for West Port against Buchholz in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 62-20 victory. Does West Port have another victory up their sleeve, or will Buchholz turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
