Softball Recap: South Hills Wins Going Away Against Arlington Heights

South Hills hadn't done well against Arlington Heights recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The South Hills Scorpions put the hurt on the Arlington Heights Yellowjackets with a sharp 13-7 win. That's more bragging rights for the Scorpions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Emily Reyes made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted over her last eight matches.

In other batting news, Natalie Ramirez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Dean, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

South Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

South Hills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-14-1 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12 runs. Arlington Heights has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

South Hills will look to defend their home field on Monday against Wyatt at 1:00 p.m. As for Arlington Heights, they will venture away from home to take on Trimble Tech at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Arlington Heights has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
