This season hasn't been kind to The Mendez Jaguars, who are still winless after their ninth match. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 26-0 walloping at the hands of Hollywood on Friday. Mendez was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hollywood apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Di Vinci Guthrie was on fire for Hollywood: he rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Da?Mareae Landry also helped out as he racked up 152 rushing yards.
Mendez's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-3 Bernstein and 5-4 Wilson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.2% over those games). As for Hollywood, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Mendez will head out on the road to face off against Belmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Belmont is ranked 1041st, while Mendez is ranked 1022nd). As for Hollywood, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bernstein at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Bernstein is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
