Chicago Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Prosser with a sharp 22-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Bella Trejo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Destiny Rodriguez and Sariah Arlequin did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Arlequin got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, Arlequin is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game. Yosselyn Figueroa was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Lake View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Senn. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.
Amani Giannopoulos spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered 11 runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.
Lake View's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Chicago Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Lake View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chicago Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. It's a different story for Lake View, though, as they've only averaged .152. Will they be able to contain Chicago Academy's hitters?
Chicago Academy might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Lake View when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
