The Marina Mariners came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Seaside by a score of 62-55. 62 seems to be a good number for Marina as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for Julius Robinson, who scored 24 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Marina's points. Jordan Bonnard Webb was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Marina's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Seaside, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marina will take on Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Watsonville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 802nd, while Marina is ranked 399th). As for Seaside, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pacific Grove at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Pacific Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Wednesday.
