The Egyptian Pharaohs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 51-45 win over Shawnee on Thursday. This was payback for Egyptian, who suffered a 66-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Egyptian to victory were Damarion Clark and Brandon Plott. Clark scored 23 points along with four steals, while Plott almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Plott has scored at least a third of Egyptian's points. Kendrick Williams was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Egyptian's victory bumped their record up to 7-19. As for Shawnee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
Egyptian will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Crab Orchard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 23 matchups -- so hopefully the Pharaohs like a good challenge. Shawnee will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Appleknockers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
