The Somerset Academy Key Lions were the 77-49 winner over the Grandview Prep Pride when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Somerset Academy Key took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grandview Prep on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Somerset Academy Key can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while Grandview Prep is ranked 211th).
Despite the loss, Somerset Academy Key still got an impressive performance from Chenson Prudhomme, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Prudhomme's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sharmah Petigny, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Somerset Academy Key were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Grandview Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavian Charles, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Aeris Lawson, who scored 13 points.
Somerset Academy Key's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Grandview Prep, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy Key won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Donna Klein Jewish Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Donna Klein Jewish Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Grandview Prep, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on FAU High at 6:30 p.m. on December 7th. FAU High comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
