Rockingham County and Eastern Guilford are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Rockingham County Cougars challenge Eastern Guilford Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockingham County will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Last Wednesday, Rockingham County got the win against Morehead by a conclusive 15-4. Considering the Cougars have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nick Rumbley and Hudson Deel made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Rumbley didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Deel tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. At bat, Rumbley scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Deel got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run. Rumbley is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
