The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dayton has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Fort Bend Marshall will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Friday, Dayton had to suffer through a rough 56-22 loss at the hands of Fort Bend Willowridge.
The losing side was boosted by Dawson Victorian, who picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Marshall stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 48-6 victory over Galena Park on the road. Given Fort Bend Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Galena Park is ranked 723rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dayton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Fort Bend Marshall, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Dayton was dealt a bruising 52-21 defeat at the hands of Fort Bend Marshall in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Dayton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
