New Haven dropped their record down to 7-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the DeKalb Barons, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since May 9, 2024.
As for DeKalb, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Barons, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
For DeKalb's part, Aydan Parr and Bryson Gadson made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Parr pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gadson tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, Parr posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Parr went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gadson went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Parr also snagged a stolen base, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brendan Vance was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miles Brockhouse, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. New Haven is set to challenge their familiar foe Leo at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bulldogs have won three straight at home, while the Lions won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, DeKalb will square off against rival East Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
