Midway is 8-2 against Copperas Cove since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Midway Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. Midway will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Midway earned a 40-29 victory over Temple. Given Midway's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Temple is ranked 937th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Copperas Cove scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Weiss 65-34 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Copperas Cove has posted since November 7, 2023.
Midway has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Copperas Cove's record is now 8-20.
Midway didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Copperas Cove in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midway since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
