Campbell County extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 3-14. They lost 8-2 to the West Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 two weeks ago.
Keira Bierdemann was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Bierdemann was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Bierdemann wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lynley Nelson, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Julianna Zamora also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
As for West, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.
Like Campbell County, West also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooke Weaver. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Weaver was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Claire Davenport was incredible, firing off three triples and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three triples gave her a new career-high. Joli Bush was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Campbell County will face off against rival Halls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West is set to take on their familiar foe Powell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
