The Smyrna Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 83-65 bruising from Cane Ridge. The contest was a 30-30 toss-up at halftime, but Smyrna was outscored by Cane Ridge in the second.
When it comes to explaining why Smyrna lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyreque Mccarver. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Lance Garner was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Smyrna were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cane Ridge only racked up 21 assists.
Leading Cane Ridge to victory were Da'ron Hall and Adam Clark. Hall dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds, while Clark scored 23 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Hall scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avyion Mccleton, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five steals.
Smyrna's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Cane Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Smyrna will take on Fort Payne in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Cane Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwind at 1:30 p.m. on December 20th.
