SYRACUSE, Utah - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Syracuse (Utah) held on for a 31-24 victory over
Alta (Sandy, Utah) on Saturday. The difference for the Titans was
Brock Anderson ran for a touchdown.
The Titans led 24-14 at halftime, but the Hawks recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 2:00 remaining in the third. Syracuse finally took the lead for good as Anderson ran for a touchdown with 10:00 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The loss came as a surprise for Alta, which entered the game ranked No. 3 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Utah, while SHS was ranked No. 4. AHS came into the game having won zero of the past two games between the two teams.
Chipper Lucero made a difference for the Sandy school. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.
Anderson stood out for the Titans in the win. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown, ran for two touchdowns and kicked one field goal and four extra points.
When the two teams played each other last season, Syracuse came away with a 16-10 victory.
