Baseball Recap: Abbeville Wins Going Away Against Dixie

Dixie typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Abbeville proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-5 victory. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adam Beiler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Beiler was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lohen Nickles was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Grady Overholt, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

Abbeville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Dixie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-4.

Abbeville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hornets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
