Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Van Buren Pointers walked away with it. They put the hurt on West Memphis with a sharp 55-32 victory on Friday. Van Buren might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Van Buren was led to victory by Cameron Keller and Bryce Perkins. Keller gained 265 total yards and three touchdowns, while Perkins threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns. Keller was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Trenton Cooley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Van Buren's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Alex Welborn was the leader with two sacks.
The win makes it two in a row for Van Buren and bumps their season record up to 4-6. As for West Memphis, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-3.
Van Buren will head out on the road to face off against Little Rock Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Little Rock Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 396 points over their last eight games. West Memphis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
