Having just played yesterday, the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will jump right back in to play the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Thomas County Central will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Thomas County Central beat Early County 49-44.
Thomas County Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Travesha Giddens out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Giddens' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Floyd, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 71-23 win over Irwin County. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Fitzgerald has managed all season.
Thomas County Central's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Fitzgerald, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Thomas County Central came up short against Fitzgerald in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 48-42. Can Thomas County Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
