Shadow Hills has gone a perfect 10-0 against Rancho Mirage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Shadow Hills proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 13) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Astoria 6-5.
Ava Valenzuela looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Samantha Perez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle Alvarez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Shadow Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage fell victim to Shadow Hills and their airtight pitching crew. They lost 13-0 to the Knights.
Shadow Hills' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Rancho Mirage, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Rancho Mirage's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Shadow Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Rancho Mirage, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Shadow Hills keep running through batters, or will Rancho Mirage buck the trend?
