Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 24 to 3 on the offensive boards, a fact the Broughton Capitals proved on Monday. They came out on top against Apex Friendship by a score of 51-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Broughton.
Broughton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendall Walpole led the charge by scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jane Kern, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Apex Friendship lost, one person who can't be blamed is Avery Kiger. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kiger has scored all season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broughton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Leesville Road at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Leesville Road will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Apex Friendship, they will head out on the road to challenge Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
