Rio Mesa moved up to 417 from 466 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pacific View. The Spartans climbed the ranks as a result of a 33-10 win over Channel Islands.
Camarillo extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Oxnard, 48-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Scorpions.
Camarillo's dynamic duo of Travis Valdez and Christian Bernal proved tough for the Yellowjackets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Valdez threw for 230 yards and one touchdown and Bernal had 136 yards receiving. Corbin Covey helped Camarillo's passing attack out by catching five balls for 42 yards.
Martel Tyler was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 94 yards on 16 carries as Rio Mesa bested Oxnard. Teammate Matt Espinoza added to the ground attack by rushing for 83 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Adan Salas of Hueneme is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1660. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, Mark Beckham's team's Adam Espinosa has rushed for 639 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Covey. The Camarillo star has 69 catches for 644 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Camarillo takes on second place Channel Islands. Last week, the Scorpions bested the Yellowjackets, while the Raiders lost to Bob Gregorchuk's team.
