The Weston Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 46-26 loss at the hands of New Milford. Weston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as New Milford apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2018.
Weston's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Timothy Martin, who threw for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Miles Fine was another key contributor, picking up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Jack Balzi was on fire for New Milford: he rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Alex Brown made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Weston's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Newtown and 6-3 Tolland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.4% over those games). As for New Milford, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Weston will be playing in front of their home fans against Brookfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Brookfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday. As for New Milford, they will head out on the road to face off against Masuk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
