The Columbia Academy Bulldogs were the 52-33 winner over the Franklin Road Academy Panthers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Columbia Academy took a 61-45 bruising from Franklin Road Academy on Friday. Columbia Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Columbia Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reese Shirley, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The contest was Shirley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ally Ballard, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Columbia Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 5-10. As for Franklin Road Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Battle Ground Academy the next time they take the court. Columbia Academy will head out to face Battle Ground Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Franklin Road Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
