Yucca Valley has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Desert Mirage RAMS at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yucca Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Desert Mirage will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Yucca Valley beat Indio 27-14.
Myles Harper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 47 receiving yards. Javin Hudson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 88 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Desert Mirage was beaten by Desert Hot Springs 48-17 on Friday. Desert Mirage was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jesus Rivas, who rushed for 101 yards.
Yucca Valley's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-1 Coachella Valley and 6-2 Desert Hot Springs (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.1% over those games). As for Desert Mirage, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Yucca Valley against Desert Mirage when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 70-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yucca Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
