Softball Recap: Connellsville Has No Trouble Against Peters Township

Connellsville came out on top against Peters Township on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Falcons put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Kendal King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cali Leichliter, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Rylee Dreves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Connellsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peters Township only posted a batting average of .167.

Connellsville's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Peters Township, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Connellsville will venture away from home to face off against Thomas Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Peters Township, they are taking a road trip to square off against Keystone Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
