Two dominant forwards in Mason Ridgeway and Omar Abushaban are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Riverside Ram will head out on the road to challenge the Stone Bridge Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Stone Bridge likes a good challenge.
Last Monday, Riverside earned a 63-54 win over Independence.
Riverside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Lawson, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Lawson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Galileo Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten blocks.
Stone Bridge has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They suffered a rough 71-46 loss at the hands of Potomac Falls on Monday. While losing is never fun, Stone Bridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Potomac Falls is ranked 20th).
Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Stone Bridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Riverside didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Stone Bridge when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 79-74 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Abushaban, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Riverside still be able to contain Abushaban? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
