The Crossett Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Junction City Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crossett has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 7th.
Crossett blew Drew Central out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Drew Central got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 3-1. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Pirates since Thursday.
Gracie Kilcrease made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Junction City). Everything went their way against Emerson on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Brooklyn Bolton made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Bolton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raylynn Massey, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Jordan Evans was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.
Junction City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Crossett's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Junction City, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-12.
Crossett beat Junction City 8-5 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
