Bloomsburg is 0-7 against Southern Columbia Area since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Bloomsburg sitting on three straight wins and Southern Columbia Area on seven.
On Friday, Bloomsburg earned a 32-21 victory over Shikellamy.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Wyatt Brosious and Brody Rebuck. Brosious had a great game and threw for 219 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes. Meanwhile, Rebuck was balling out in the loss, throwing for 204 yards and one touchdown, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bloomsburg's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Jack Katulis with two.
Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Montoursville by a score of 26-16.
Bloomsburg better keep an eye on Ayden Hockenbroch. He was instrumental in Southern Columbia Area's win, throwing for 113 yards and a pair of TDs.
Southern Columbia Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in 19 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Bloomsburg's record now sits at 7-1. As for Southern Columbia Area, their record is now an identical 7-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Bloomsburg has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 172.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southern Columbia Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 263.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Bloomsburg suffered a grim 53-28 defeat to Southern Columbia Area when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Panthers were down 27-7.
