Prospect won the last time they faced Del Mar and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kendall Tabora was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Prospect got a massive performance out of Dani Rauscher, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Rauscher a new career-high. Sadie Slaughter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Prospect kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Mar only managed five hits.
Prospect has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Del Mar, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Prospect is set to square off against their familiar foe Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.1, the Lions 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Del Mar will challenge rival Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
