After a string of eight wins, the Westwood Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 73-58 to Elite Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Westwood Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriel Gallego, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gallego has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Westwood Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elite Academy only racked up three assists.
Elite Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Chin out in front who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Chin scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladainian Brooks, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds.
Westwood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Elite Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.
