Paisley Williamson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Williamson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alicia Demott, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
South Sumter came out on top against Hernando on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Raiders put the hurt on the Leopards with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Raiders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th (when they won 19-1).
Like Citrus, South Sumter also got a great game from a two-way player: Raven Parker. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Parker was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Cadence Sellers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Citrus' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for South Sumter, their record now sits at 14-8.
Citrus couldn't quite get it done against South Sumter in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 11-8. Can the Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
