The St. Mary's Ryken Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Archbishop Spalding will be up against a hot St. Mary's Ryken team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. St. Mary's Ryken never let Bishop Ireton get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Mikaela Guy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Guy was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Chadwick, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Lacey Jones, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
St. Mary's Ryken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Ireton only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, everything went Archbishop Spalding's way against Notre Dame Prep on Wednesday as Archbishop Spalding made off with a 12-5 win. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with Notre Dame Prep recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Cessi Prince tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Jalayah Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Lily Davey was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
St. Mary's Ryken pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Spalding, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
St. Mary's Ryken was able to grind out a solid victory over Archbishop Spalding in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary's Ryken since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
